Even though the
City Council elections are not partisan, and there is no party support or recognition
for the position, this still seems to be one of the most common questions
asked of me during all five of my campaigns:
what party do you affiliate or align yourself with? Since this is a
point of interest for many, I will state that I am a registered Republican
here in The Colony, Denton County, Texas.
I have been a registered Republican as far back as I can
remember. I even served as the
Republican Precinct Committee Chair for my precinct here in The Colony many
years ago, when I first moved to The Colony. That being said, I
can also state that I do not “see” RED and BLUE, R or D (or
I or L or G, et al) … but, instead I support candidates and issues
that align with my moral and ethical values, regardless of party
affiliation. Never in my life have I
just checked the “vote all in one party” box, but have made an educated and
selective choice for every vote that I have ever cast. Now, to see into my
moral and ethical values, and my personal viewpoints on liberty and freedom …
I truly consider myself to be a Conservative Libertarian. What this means to me is that I have the
following beliefs and views: Ř I believe in
smaller government … including less taxation and less involvement in the
personal lives of the citizens it represents.

personal liberties, and with that I also believes comes personal
responsibility and accountability. Ř I believe in
individual liberties and rights, especially as it relates to the private
lives and private property of both citizens and businesses. Ř I believe that
honesty, integrity, community service and dedication matter … and that our
leaders need to lead by example in all of these areas. Ř I believe that we,
as the voting public, have the control over term limits, by having the power
to vote out of office those who have served their time … but, also to allow
us to choose to keep those that serve us with true diligence, and with the
honesty and integrity mentioned above. Ř I am the BIGGEST
supporter of our public safety and first responders … our police, our fire
and our public work staff. Without the
basics of being safe and knowing that we have dedicated professionals to come
to our aid, then all the other aspects of government simply mean nothing. (More on my views on Public Safety.) And, if you have

signs are royal blue not for any political or party reason, because I
simply love the color … it is the color of my alma mater, and, well, my wife
thinks looks the best on me! |
